Oral Argument for Appeal will be on Jan. 19, 2022 (Skid Row NC-FC v. City of Los Angeles)

“Oral Argument” is the last step in the appeal process before the Court of Appeal makes a decision. I was offered a choice – I chose yes. The date will be Jan 19, 2022. As far as I know, this process will be open to the Public (I will post more info as I get it).

According to the Court of Appeal website, “Oral argument is an opportunity for the parties to make sure the court understands the most important issues of an appeal. The parties can explain the arguments in their briefs and answer questions from the justices.

This Appeal is of a decision made by the Superior Court. There are three main documents filed in an Appeal: The Opening Brief (General Jeff filed/Skid Row), The Respondent’s Brief (City of LA filed, in response to the Opening Brief), and then finally The Appellant’s Reply Brief (optional) to let the Appellant reply one last time to the Respondent (Katherine McNenny filed/Skid Row).

Below are some highlights of General Jeff’s (RIP) Opening Brief and my Appellant’s Reply Brief.

– Katherine McNenny
